Hazlet, New Jersey Team Wins Hearts With NEIGHBORLY, PET-CENTRIC Community Efforts

Pet Supplies Plus aims to be America's Favorite Neighborhood Pet Store every day, and it's great to hear from our neighbors that we're doing a good job at that.  The Hazlet, New Jersey team goes above and beyond in their neighborly, pet-centric work with local rescue.  

Team Leader Jeffrey let us know how this most recent program worked:  

"With the help of all the managers and staff, they offered our neighbors the opportunity to purchase, and then donate, over 350 Waggin’ Train Dog Treats, our item of the month. Our local rescue, 3 Hearts 4 Paws, were beyond happy when we presented them the boxes of treats."

Nancy, our neighbor at 3 Hearts 4 Paws, chimed in to let us know what the Hazlet team's work meant to the organization:

"We at 3 Hearts 4 Paws cannot thank this store and this team enough.  From opening its doors to us every Sunday for our adoption events, to the many generous donations they have made through campaigns in the store and soliciting donations.  Anyone can be a pet store...but not everyone does so much for the pet community as this group does.   We are sincerely grateful!"

NEIGHBORLY Service in Mundelein, Illinois Converts an Online Shopper to a PSP Neighbor

Neighbor Anna wrote to tell us about her “amazing” experience in our Mundelein, Illinois location, and how some neighborly service changed her from an online shopper to a Pet Supplies Plus neighbor.  She writes:


I have to tell you normally I only buy my dog food online because it’s usually cheaper and convenient.  Today I took my son into the Mundelein, Illinois location.  The women were BEYOND amazing.  My son had such a great experience that I know this will be the place I get all my dog food and supplies.  Thank you for such a great day!

PET-CENTRIC, NEIGHBORLY Attention To a Sick Guinea Pig (and more!) Make a Mom's Day in Canton, Ohio

It looks like Courtney and the whole Canton, Ohio team are stepping up to help out a Mom and her daughter get to know and understand small animals as pets.  Neighbor Jennifer wrote us a touching note to let us know about her experience:

I have to sing the praises of your employees, especially noting the efforts of team members Jennifer, Courtney and Desiree, as well as honorable mention regarding cashier Jennifer and Nick in your Canton store. Their exemplary efforts keep my daughter and I as regular customers. Any time there has ever been an issue, your staff have made every effort to make it right.

Recently, we purchased a guinea pig and found that he was ill. They took him back and had him treated by the vet whose services are associated with that store. Courtney took it upon herself to be responsible for our little guy until he was well and did an amazing job. Even spending her break time to make sure we were taken care of and giving our little guy his medicine while we were there to visit him.  We've seen Courtney working with other customers as well as tending to the stock of animals on site. She's great with both. Going as far as allowing my little girl to get to know the ferrets and showing her not to fear, letting her touch a snake. That means a lot being that my little girl is sick and those kinds of moments are special to us. I just thought someone should know you have a few very good people in your team at the Canton store.

TRUSTWORTHY Marlton, NJ Team Member Brings In A New Neighbor, Delivers on Promise of NEIGHBORLY, KNOWLEDGEABLE Service

Team Member Aspen is a life-long trustworthy worker, and that paw-print quality proved helpful when she encountered a customer from a previous job and suggested he become one of our neighbors at Pet Supplies Plus.  New neighbor Mark wrote to tell us that he's impressed with our continued trustworthiness: products always in stock, consistent great prices...and all of that comes with neighborly service.

Great job, Aspen, for recruiting new neighbors at the Marlton store, and for delivering on the paw print!

I have patronized Pet Supplies Plus at the suggestion of a current employee at the Marlton store, Aspen, whom I knew from a place where I would kennel my pet. I previously patronized another pet supply store and based on my experience with Aspen I trusted her suggestion. The entire staff at this location is and always has been very friendly and helpful which makes for a great shopping experience. PSP always has my particular brand of food in stock at a great price as well as other supplies needed for my pet. The Marlton store has a great staff and I want to recognize them for providing a positive shopping experience each time I shop at the location.

PET-CENTRIC, NEIGHBORLY Mansfield, Ohio Team Members Go Above and Beyond to Keep a Lizard Toasty Warm

Lizards need love, too!  And more than that, they need to be warm.  So when neighbor Jessica suddenly found herself without a heat source for the lizard she loved, she went right to her local Pet Supplies Plus for help.  Even after hours, Mansfield, Ohio team members Sarah and Gilley were there to help!  Jessica told us:


I want to say thank you very much for the staff in Mansfield. Employees Sarah and Gilley went above and beyond to assist me with a problem and I am extremely grateful to Pet Supplies Plus!! Thursday evening I had a bulb blow on my beardie and bought a new one Friday asap, but when I got home and plugged it in it was already blown. I called the girls in Mansfield but the store was closing in 10 minutes. The girls agreed to wait around for a few minutes until I could return to the store to get my baby beardie an exchanged light. I rushed to the store and the girls were there and it was a complete success, and my baby beardie is basking in his heat now still very healthy. I just had to share my wonderful experience and say thank you so very much I am extremely grateful and so is my beardie.

Villa Park, Illinois Makes NEIGHBORLY Donation of Fish Tank to a Local Junior High School

The Villa Park, Illinois Team made a great impression on a local junior high school when they donated a fish tank (and aquatic occupants!) for educational purposes.  It's a great way to make a difference in the community, and Dave Frank of Peacock Junior High confirmed that it's really making a difference for students.  He wrote:

I wanted to give a HUGE shout out and a massive THANK YOU to Hillary, the awesome store manager in Villa Park. She donated just about everything inside our new tank at F E Peacock Jr High School including the fish! The students LOVE the tank and I could not be more pleased. PET-CENTRIC, TRUSTWORTHY Centreville, Virginia Team Makes a Difference for a Sweet Old Guy

As our pets get older, they require more love and more patience from us.  Such was the case with Neighbor Brian's samoyed, who was a bit overly excited when his dad came home after being away on business.  Owners get a little panicked when they think they might be only a few steps away from losing their best furry friends, but in this case the Centreville, Virginia team made the best of a traumatic situation.  Brian told us:

I wanted to personally thank you for the amazing staff when I brought my samoyed in for grooming. My first child and best friend is sadly at an old age and he fell down and urinated all over the place when I came home from business travel. It took an hour just to get him calmed down so I could get him in the car and I dropped by at 8:30 PM to clean him up and try to make him more comfortable. Your staff was so amazing they helped me out to hold him up (he was quite shaken up) and even kept the store open an extra half hour to help me out. They really helped to calm him down and pet him since he even in old age loves the attention. I can't thank the staff enough that evening since it was way beyond the call of duty. Luckily my little guy is a better under control and while he can't walk the best I wanted to make sure they knew we are going to fight for him till the day he doesn't seem happy or he tells us it his time to go. I thought it was going to be last Wednesday but with some love from your staff he had a great rest of the week. Thank you once again and I wanted to personally thank the three very kind girls that evening. It meant a lot to me.

Buffalo, NY Team Member Makes Impression on Neighbor with NEIGHBORLY, KNOWLEDGEABLE Service

Our neighbor India received superior service in our Buffalo, New York store when she needed help with her children's new pet rabbit.  She ran into Deja, who was extremely helpful.  She not only connected her with rabbit expert Trish (not pictured but equally awesome), but then helped India with the bus schedule when she found herself stranded at the PSP.  India told us:

For Christmas I got a rabbit (Prince Reese Cup) for my children, because our baby Channel (guinea pig) passed away a little over a year or so ago. So I have recently moved in this area and found this pet supply store on Delaware. Yesterday I was there for some time looking for supplies and I was looking to speak with someone who had knowledge on rabbits. Deja immediately let me know that Trish had just come in for her shift and she would be the best person to talk to and directed her to me. We discussed food, which thankfully she showed me that the fresh food is better in bulk and pricing, bedding/litter, cages and toys,which was priceless due to the constant chewing on my shoes. She was a tremendous help to my little family and our needs, even trimming his nails. To top it off Deja was very sweet, a great people person, sociable, helpful. My ride fell threw and she was able to give me the bus info to this area. I can appreciate the care and going above and beyond to help when you're passionate about what you do. Please let them know their hard work matters! Thanks again.

P.S. We love the cage we got, it's spacious and really nice!
