NEIGHBORLY, KNOWLEDGEABLE Service in Amhurst, New York Wins Over a HAPPY Neighbor

Neighborly and knowledgeable service goes a long way toward making neighbors happy, and Deena in our Amhurst, New York pet center seems to have it down pat!  Deena took initiative to say hello and help this neighbor find what he needed each time he came to the store, and now he feels he must use capital letters to describe her, because lower case just isn't enough!  He wrote:

Deena, who participated in NCAA
Tournament dress-up day!
I just HAD to reach out to you today to let you know how DELIGHTED I have been with Deena. She is professional, courteous and helpful EVERY SINGLE time I come to the store.

I ask that she be recognized for EXCELLENT effort and attitude.  She is warm and pleasant, and that is so refreshing given the state of customer service these days.  I wish all stores in which I shop had someone like Deena.

Too often, customers only contact management  when there is a problem.  They are slow to praise but quick to criticize.  The only problem I see is that the world needs MORE Deenas, but I guess I'll just have to be grateful for the one we have.

Every time I come to your store, she immediately greets me, makes sure I find what I'm looking for, asks me if I have any questions and checks me out after making sure I'm happy.

How could I NOT be happy with such superior service?

NEIGHBORLY, PET-CENTRIC Pooch Parade Helps San Antonio Pet Centers Connect With Community

Dale and Roxanne, managers of our San Antonio pet centers, reached out to tell us about the Pooch Parade, which was celebrated this year as a part of San Antonio's Fiesta celebration.  Fiesta is a 17-day-long celebration to honor the memory of the battles of the Alamo and San Jacinto, and Dale and Roxanne saw this as an opportunity to connect with their community in a neighborly, pet-centric way.  Dale writes:

Our neighbors dress up their pets, and sometimes themselves, to celebrate the Fiesta festival San Antonio has each year. The Pooch Parade is the last Saturday at the end of Fiesta.

There is a judging walkway to show off some of the pets with their parents to win prizes. Then even more of our neighbors parade their pets through the neighborhoods to show them off, down as parade path.

This is our first year at this, we prepared 300 of our reusable bags with goodies such as Fromm, Wellness, and Nature's Variety food samples.  We include frisbees, can lid covers, tennis balls, bracelets, and measuring cups from our vendors in the bags.  The first 300 were passed out in one hour, and then after that we passed out 300 more unfilled bags!

Howell, Michigan Pet Center Makes NEIGHBORLY Connections with Local Animal Shelter

Neighbor AnnMarie, president of a local animal rescue, reached out to tell us what a wonderful experience she continues to have with the Howell, Michigan pet center.   Manager Kyle and team make their twice-monthly guest, Always Hope Animal Rescue, feel welcome with their helpful, neighborly service, and perform a great service to their community when they assist this group in uniting two-legged neighbors with four-legged companions.  AnnMarie wrote:

I run Always Hope Animal Rescue, a 501c3 non-profit rescue group.  We show at the Howell, MI store twice a month.

I have been to other PSP stores but have to say that this one is one of the cleanest I've ever been in.  The manager Kyle is great with us and we have been able to form a wonderful business relationship that works for us both.  His employees are all very respectful and always helpful when we are there.  They all go above and beyond to help us out.

We always feel very welcome when we are showing our animals there and we see the customers all being treated the same.  Hats off to Kyle and all of his employees.

NEIGHBORLY, PET-CENTRIC Steubenville, Ohio Pet Center Helps Reunite Family with Their Dog

The folks at our Steubenville, Ohio pet center took the time to write us about how they helped a neighbor find their missing dog.  Did they put up flyers around the store?  Contact the local shelters?  Of course not.  The team in Steubenville helped reunite the family with their pup in a way that only Pet Supplies Plus could do:

Yesterday evening one of our fairly regular customers brought in a small older dog that they just found in a parking lot of a nearby shopping plaza. Today a teenage girl came into the store and asked if she could hang up a flyer for their lost dog.  Our shift leader, Kerry, immediately recognized the dog in the picture and went to the office to look up the people who brought it in the day before.

After looking through the previous days' purchases he found the people who brought the dog in. They were able to contact the people and helped the family find their dog in a small town 20 miles from here. The family was so grateful that they brought a card and bag of goodies for us in thanks.

That's great neighborly service from shift leader Kerry, who not only recognized the dog, but then went above and beyond to reach the dog's rescuers so he could be reunited with his family!

Sarah in Garland, Texas Provides Fabulous, NEIGHBORLY Service Even In Her Free Time!

Neighbor Lenora wrote to tell us that she was delighted with the neighborly service she received from Sarah at our Garland, Texas pet center.  Not only did she try to help our neighbor find her missing bag of canned cat food, she did so after the store had closed!  Now, that's going above and beyond, offering the kind of service that brings our neighbors back again and again.

Just wanted to drop you a line to tell you what a great employee you have in Sarah at the Garland Texas store on NW/Centerville.

From the time I first visited this store she made me feel welcome. She seemed so happy to assist me. Remembered me when I came back.   I just love going there for all my pet food needs--both for my cat and two dogs. It is much easier than going to Walmart and your prices are right in the same range.  Price lower or higher wouldn't matter that much to me if it were not for the excellent friendly service.   All the staff offers to assist me to take the big bags to the car, you don't get that at big box Walmart.

Recently, I thought I may have left a bag of canned cat food at the store, the store was closed, but I saw Sarah on Face Book (as she happened to have gone to school with my niece and was her FB friend).  I messaged her to see if she might have known if I had left it in the store. Although she wasn't there that day, I thought she might have seen it later. She was very kind to message the person that checked me out. Before she could respond, I located it, in a very unlikely place.  I can't tell you what a blessing it was for someone to care enough to put my worries to rest,  She assured me that she knew that happens sometime and they would see what could be done. I knew she could have had an attitude that I needed to call the store during store hours or that I was simply trying to get over on the store, but she didn't she was very nice and offered her help.

Pet Supplies Plus is the only store I buy my pet food, I don't see that changing anytime in the near future and that is thanks to your staff.  Please thank Sarah again for me.  You have a jewel in her as a employee.

KNOWLEDGEABLE, PET-CENTRIC, NEIGHBORLY Service in Morton Grove, IL Saves a Fish and Impresses a Neighbor

Neighbor Joann was thrilled to encounter Danny at our Morton Grove, Illinois pet center.  So knowledgeable and pet-centric Danny is, he was able to help get her ailing fish back on its feet (gills??), and then he threw in some neighborly attitude to really win her over!

Great work, Danny!
I would like to let you know what a great employee you have at your store in Morton Grove, IL on Dempster Street.

Danny is a young man who proved to be so polite, helpful and knowledgeable regarding a problem I had with a fish recently.  He tested the water twice, recommended a plant, and gave us advice to help our ailing fish adjust to her new tank.  (The fish is doing much better now!)  In between helping me with the fish problem, I noticed he cheerfully and efficiently would help our at the cash register when the line got long.

We have a dog and a cat as well as the fish and do our shopping at your store.  It is so rare and wonderful to see a young person so nice, helpful and full of knowledge about fish.  You are lucky to have such a wonderful employee.
